We decided on Queenstown New Zealand for our wedding. It's one of our favourite places in the world. It truly is a place that you could retire in comfortably. It has that unique mix of modern, cool and adventurous, with also the untouched beauty.
We had actually gone with a different venue for our wedding, but after having issues with them, we had to find somewhere last minute to hold it. Thankfully we decided upon The Hilton Queenstown Resort and Spa which is right on the lake, on the other side, offering a stunning view of Queenstown. With the professionalism and also the fact they would be so used to doing weddings, we had the whole thing organised and books within days. Our set up was quite simple, especially when the flower features would be the centrepiece for the whole thing. When you have uber talented florists such as Connie from Adelaide Flower House doing your flowers you know they are going to be perfect and eye catching. The Hilton went above and beyond for us, they were genuinely excited for us being probably their first same sex wedding there. The day was absolutely perfect. I stayed the night before in one of their King Hilton Deluxe with Lakeview room which was beautifully appointed. I loved everything about the room. The space was very large and comfortable. I didn't feel squashed in at any time. The bed was soft and comfortable. The bathroom absolutely huge and luxurious. The Hilton resort has a village feel, with six options of restaurants/bars and cafes to entertain you while you are there. You also have the very handy option of the water taxis that will give you a very beautiful way to sight see while making your way into the centre of town. They go around every hour and are only about $10 NZD one way. If you have never been to Queenstown you have SO many things you are able to do. Ski, skydive, bungee, ride a jet boat. The options are endless. I have even heard that in Summer it is still just as alive and vibrant. With a population of around 14, 898 and to have it's own Louis Vuitton Store it just goes to show how special this place is. I would recommend The Hilton for your wedding, it is stress free and with them taking care of it all, you can just relax and enjoy your day.

I was fortunate enough to be able to visit the incredible CRU Champagne Bar while in Bangkok last week.
I had seen many pictures of the eye-catching bar on many travel websites. The Arch which features, is something an architect would love and a traveller always remembers. I visited on a Tuesday night and was welcomed by the wonderful staff who are not only very attentive, but are only too happy to ask you if they can take photographs for you in the many locations at the bar for the perfect shot. The bar is on the 59th floor of Centara Grand at CentralWorld. Bangkok can be a place that is like the New York of Asia, so it is a welcoming thing when you can find a place that takes you away from that and offers a place to relax, unwind and enjoy stunning service. When arriving we were impressed purely by the hotel and the entrance to the bar. You are led up into a smaller elevator that takes you to the staircase which that leads to the rooftop bar. When walking up those stairs, you realise just what kind of view your about to be spoilt by. It is a view that you will want to take many photographs of while you enjoy the pristine service, the tantalising drinks and the delicious food which will be on offer. The cool tunes from the background music was the perfect accompaniment to what we were being witness to. Much like a view that you would get from the Empire State building, this one offers an even more unique view of this incredible city and it's thrilling architecture. We could not stop taking pictures and videos. Now the bar itself feels spacious and stylish, the drinks are not only so unique and divine, but the way they are presented are beyond artistic. I was lucky enough to try several of the drinks my visit. Firstly the Shop till you drop which was Absolut Mandrin, Grand Marnier, Malibu, orange juice, mango purée, lime juice, vanilla syrup, passion fruit, Champagne. Not only was it delicious it comes in a secured bag in a small branded shopping cart. The thought and concept of such just made me smile. We also tried the Swallows Nest which included ELYX vodka, Cointreau, beetroot juice, pomegranate juice, passion fruit juice, lime juice, rosemary syrup. This being a personal favourite the blend of the beetroot and pomegranate was amazing! It also was presented in a long tall glass secured in a small decorator bird cage. The Alchemist Punch Havana 3 years, peach purée, passion fruit purée, peach syrup, Champagne was a drink which definitely stood by it's name! It also came in the coolest looking mug (see pictures attached). We were also lucky to try the G.H. Mumm No. 1 Pink Champagne, that is an exclusive. Only available at this very bar. The food is also something to enjoy, while you relax basking in the views. On this trip we tried the Crispy Sweet Potato Fries and the Garden Vegetable Steamed Buns, that were delicious for a vegetarian like myself. The CRU Champagne bar is a must if you are visiting Bangkok. Not only will you get a birds eye view of one of the most incredible cities. You will also be fortunate enough to try some food and cocktails that you will unlikely see in any other big city. It truly does set itself as a International bar, that is not only world famous, but shows you on each visit exactly why that is. https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/ShowUserReviews-g293916-d12183012-r565580433-CRU_Champagne_Bar-Bangkok.html# A huge thankyou to www.mydeal.com.au/blog/post/travel-bloggers-best-australia for including us in your Aussie Travel Bloggers Favourite Destinations.

The whole place filled with early morning light, the view, the room, the food, the service will really leave you happy. On this trip to Melbourne we checked out Nobu Melbourne https://www.crownmelbourne.com.au/restaurants/premium/nobu/info-booking
I was very interested in seeing what this renown restaurant was like. With the popularity of it's owners Nobu and Robert De Niro who wouldn't want to see what all the fuss is about right? We checked in for dinner and when first arriving I wasn't actually blown away by the decor. It was rather dark, but the furniture and decor just seemed a little dated. Though this would never put me off a good meal. We both ordered the Nobu Signature Omakase, mine being vegetarian. My partner really enjoyed his, I on the other hand am really fussy with food. To no fault of Nobu one of dishes was a bowl of mushrooms of all types cooked to perfection. They literally come out sizzling. Though I am not a fan of mushrooms, so I felt terrible trying to make out like I had actually eaten some of it before the waiter came to collect for the next course. One thing I will say is the wine/drink list was very good and the staff were really quite amazing. They are a definite attribute to the place. Some of the dishes I received were so amazing to the tastebuds. I would happily visit again though would order less food to a more personal section. But that's just me. If you like Japanese food, then this is worth the visit, the fusions they create are quite the spectacle. |
