The Hudson HotelWhile in New York City we stayed at The Hudson located at 358 West 58th Street, just near Columbus Circle it is very well located. Part of the Morgans Hotel Group and Sbe. Designed by Phillippe Starck is a unique, stylish and hop hotel.
Close to the Museum of Arts and Design Central Park and the Time Warner Centre you have so much just footsteps away. Featuring a Library Bar and a Sky Terrace the bar has great spaces for relaxing or meeting friends. Eddie who checked us in was really helpful and gave us some options of bars and things to do in the area. When checking i there was a small stuff up though. We had booked a standard room online before leaving Australia. We then received an email through sbe asking if we would like to upgrade our room, which we immediately took. Though when we arrived and they checked our booking it still had us in the standard room. Now anyone who knows the Hudson knows that the standard room is small. Like very small. After travelling and getting to this amazing city I didn't want to be boxed in. So thankfully Eddie went to ask management who were happy to put us into a Deluxe Double Double. This room was exactly what we needed, it was spacious large and had room to move along side all of our luggage. The extra double bed also was good to have just to sit on and work on stuff from home, or watch TV while my husband slept on the other bed. The Library Bar and Sky Terrace were a nice addition. The drinks were a little pricey but the vibe was great. Not a large selection of drinks but something for everyone I would say. We actually had a few friends over and sat on the Sky Terrace and drank the afternoon away. The things I would say need a little work and TLC would be the hallways, they were painted a lime green I would say quite a while ago, and now it just looks dirty and dated. Also as we stayed around 6 nights there was a plastic serving tray and some glasses in the hallway for several days in the same spot. Also once I walked out and saw that someone had left a toilet plunger in the middle of the hallway. This was quite gross. Another thing would be the gym. As even though it had some OK equipment it was just hot and lifeless. It needs some sort of air flow in there as it is in the basement of the hotel, with no windows. It felt like it had no air condition either. The whole gym just was uninspiring. A suggestion would be a mural on one wall to liven the place up and even just some fans. All in all the hotel worked well for us, it gave us the ability to walk to most things or catch a small cab or Uber ride. They also made it so easy when leaving by having your bill under your door and all you do is leave. They have your credit card and if there are any queries they are there to help. at 358D W
